Opening ceremony of the workshop on "Methods of organizing work for students"

Kandal Province: On the morning of Monday, the 8th waxing day of Meak, Year of the Snake, Seventh Cycle, Buddhist Era 2569, corresponding to 26 January 2026, Her Excellency Dr. Khuon Vichheka, Director General of the Department of Training and Capacity Building, presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop on “Task-Based Teaching”, coordinated by SEAMEO TED and supported by the ASEAN-UK SAGE Programme. The workshop was attended by 33 teacher trainers and education staff from various teacher training institutes and provincial teacher training schools.

The workshop was conducted from 26 to 28 January 2026 with the objective of strengthening teacher trainers’ capacity to design learning tasks appropriate to students’ proficiency levels, integrating the Lexical Approach, developing the four language skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—and promoting critical thinking and creativity in primary classrooms in order to improve learning outcomes.

This workshop also marked the conclusion of Phase 1 of the ASEAN-UK SAGE–MoEYS pilot project, which focuses on strengthening monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems for the development of foundational Khmer literacy. Key components of the project implementation included standardized classroom observations, analysis of learning materials, and the development of a database of 6,000 high-frequency words for the primary education level.
