The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been strengthening the quality of education by aligning the education system with regional and global education standards, with an emphasis on sustainable development and the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1 for equitable, efficient and sustainable growth. This strategy aims to build a foundation towards achieving the Cambodian Vision 2050. To achieve the above goals, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports aims to ensure that all Cambodian citizens receive an equitable and modern education with the knowledge, skills and values that lead to good health, fitness and lifelong learning.
In this regard, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has focused on strengthening the quality of teachers, considering that teachers in Cambodia must be trusted and recognized as knowledge producers, real practitioners at the school level and partners for policy improvement. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been and is currently reforming teacher training institutions, focusing on the following key areas:
- Improving teacher training and professional development programs;
- Developing the professional capacity of teacher educators in terms of content, pedagogy, and diverse teaching methods and the use of technology in teaching;
- Developing infrastructure in line with new technologies, libraries, and a wide range of modern teaching materials;
- Developing leadership and management skills;
- Linking theory to the implementation of the pedagogical curriculum;
